Pistakee Yacht Club Clubhouse and Grounds Usage Guidelines
Pistakee Yacht Club (PYC) has a beautiful clubhouse. We want to encourage use of the clubhouse and grounds by all of our members for social events including PYC Social Events shown on the PYC Calendar, family picnics on the grounds, and of course for sailing, racing and boating activities. As you know the club has piers, a hoist, and a ramp for accessing the lake for your use. As members of PYC, you can use the grounds and facility from May 6 until mid-October. Generally, there are three ways the clubhouse and grounds can be used; shared use of the building and grounds, use of the building and grounds with restricted use for members and exclusive use of the building and grounds.
Shared Use of the Building and Grounds:
During the summer the Community Sailing School at Pistakee (CSS@P), which rents space from Pistakee Yacht Club, has classes 5 days a week from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Monday through Thursday in the evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The school does have dedicated learning areas but there is still open space for members and their guests. Much of the time the students are out on the water.
During the week and on the weekends, members and their guests can enjoy a “bring your own” picnic lunch at the club, launch a dinghy or host a social activity like games in the evening with family and/or friends. (Groups of up to 10 can use the facility with no additional fee.) Please let our social director know if you plan to host a social activity for family and/or friends. It’s a beautiful location and facility. Come out and enjoy the Club.
Use of the Building and Ground for Private Events:
Members are welcome to host a private event in the clubhouse. Hosting a private event at the club does require a fee. There are two ways you can host a private event, use of the build and grounds with restricted use for members or exclusive use of the building and ground just for your guests.
Private Event for a Member with Restricted Usage for all other Members:
The member hosting the private event will have dedicated use of:
The main hall, kitchen, sunroom/bar area and the front porch/deck.
Private party guests should stay clear of the piers especially when boats are launching or returning.
Caterer for private parties should park to the clubhouse side of the driveway.
The private usage events with restricted usage for members will be listed on the PYC Calendar.
The member must clean up the area before leaving, empty the trash and if you are the last person there make sure the Clubhouse is locked up.
For other members during the private event with restricted usage of the club the following guidelines apply:
Plan ahead and retrieve any gear (i.e., sails) required from the building ahead of the event.
Limit the use of the restrooms to those in the front entry way. Handicapped bathroom for the ladies and the men’s bathroom.
If launching a dinghy, move your vehicle immediately after launching to keep the driveway clear.
Restrict picnicking to the area south and west of the clubhouse.
Clean up the area before you leave, empty the trash and if you are the last person there make sure the Clubhouse is locked up.
Private Event with Exclusive Use of the Facility
When a member reserves the facility for exclusive use, members are asked not to use the grounds or the facility during the private event. Exclusive usage must be approved by the board in advance. The private party events will be listed on the PYC Calendar. Member must clean up the area, empty the trash and lock the Clubhouse.
