C Scow Fleet

Overview

Pistakee Yacht Club has a long history of racing C Scows.  The size of the fleet has gone up and down over the years and is currently growing.  We race on Sunday mornings.  We meet at the club for a 9 o’clock skippers meeting and generally have everything put away between noon and one.  The sailors often hang out after the races to share stories.

 Crew

Most skippers have regular crew but on occasion need crew.  If you are interested in crewing stop by the club on a Sunday morning and meet the group of C Scow sailors and share your contact information.  You could also jump on the committee boat and watch the races on the water.

 Summer Series

The summer series starts Memorial Day Weekend and runs through Labor Day Weekend. We race on the main lake, so we warm up and cool down sailing from and to the club.  We generally do two 2 to 3 lap races on a windward leeward course with a mid-course start and finish.

 Holiday Races

There are three holiday races each year.  Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.  These are trophy races by tradition.

 Regatta

Pistakee Yacht Club takes turns hosting the Fish and Weed Regatta with Wonder Lake.  The regatta is the first weekend after Labor Day and will be hosted at Wonder Lake in 2022.

 Fall Series

After the Fish and Weed Regatta, we start our fall series.  The fall series is a race to a series of buoys around the lake.  The start/finish line is an imaginary line across Pistakee Bay.  These races are fun because you sail the full range of wind directions. We get 3 to 4 races in before lift out.
